Canada is a vast and rugged land. From north to south, it spans more than half the Northern Hemisphere. From east to west, it stretches almost 7,560 km across 6 time zones. It is the second largest country in the world, but it has only half of 1% of the world’s population!
- Did you know that Winnie the Pooh, Smarties, Superman, and Wayne Gretzky are all products of Canada?
- Did you know that Canada became a country in 1867 under Sir John A. MacDonald as our first Prime Minister?
- Did you know that Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world?
- Did you know that there are more cows in Saskatchewan than people?
- Did you know that Edmonton has the second greatest temperature variation in the world (from +40 to -40 degrees Celsius)?
- Did you know that Canada has the longest coast line in the world?
To all Canadians…Happy Canada Day!!
Did you know we have a monthly prize for feedback provided to us on any one of the platforms available, AND an annual grand prize winner?
Your opinion means ALOT to us and we use this feedback to improve the care and service that is provided to you. If there is anything you feel we could do better, we definitely want to hear about it. If there is something in particular that shines about your experience at one of our clinics we LOVE hearing about what we are doing right too!
We want your visit to be as pleasant and thorough as possible, and we certainly want your experience to be worthy of your referral to friends and family. Please let us know how we are doing!
There are 4 options to provide feedback:
-Our patient survey on our website
-Give us a Facebook review
-Google Review (via Google Maps – super easy if your email is a gmail account)
-Talk directly to Dr. Hagens – she will always be willing to listen!
Thank you for taking the time – it means so very much to us!

We also have lots of great stocking stuffer ideas!
If you are not interested in shopping but would like to make a difference in the world this Christmas, consider a donation to “Optometry Giving Sight” which provides eyewear and vision saving services to less fortunate third world countries. Season’s greetings, from our family to yours!
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause in memory of the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives in military service. We will be wearing our poppies with pride for our fallen soldiers and those who endured the hardships of war…Lest we forget.
First be sure to pick up a reflector stick-on patch from one of our clinics (they are free) to help your little ghost or goblin be visible while trick or treating at night.
Also give some thought about how to keep your eyes healthy this month.
Easy lifestyle changes that do your eyes a world of good include eating more fruits and vegetables, keeping the sun out of your eyes with hats or sunglasses and moderate aerobic exercise at least 3-4 times per week.
A little more difficult of a lifestyle change to make, but extremely important – quit smoking! Smoking is not only bad for your lungs, skin, teeth (and the list goes on), it is also bad for your eyes being a strong contributor to cataracts and macular degeneration. Today would be a great day to quit smoking as well!
