Christmas! A time of joy, peace and celebration.
Also a time to show your loved ones how much you care about them. Consider giving a gift of sight with a certificate from Oyen Optometry or Absolutely Eyes to be used for anything they wish for, including eye examinations, contact lenses, eyewear, and sunglasses. We also have lots of great stocking stuffer ideas!
If you are not interested in shopping but would like to make a difference in the world this Christmas, consider a donation to “Optometry Giving Sight” which provides eyewear and vision saving services to less fortunate third world countries. More information can be obtained by visiting their website at www.givingsight.org!
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause in memory of the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives in military service. We will be wearing our poppies with pride for our fallen soldiers and those who endured the hardships of war…Lest we forget.
First be sure to pick up a reflector stick-on patch from one of our clinics (they are free) to help your little ghost or goblin be visible while trick or treating at night.
Also give some thought about how to keep your eyes healthy this month.
Easy lifestyle changes that do your eyes a world of good include eating more fruits and vegetables, keeping the sun out of your eyes with hats or sunglasses and moderate aerobic exercise at least 3-4 times per week.
A little more difficult of a lifestyle change to make, but extremely important – quit smoking! Smoking is not only bad for your lungs, skin, teeth (and the list goes on), it is also bad for your eyes being a strong contributor to cataracts and macular degeneration. Today would be a great day to quit smoking as well!
September marks the return to school and certainly an increase in vision demands for our children! It also brings the end of summer and time for a new look! For the month of September we are offering our annual BOGO 50% sale, which means for one eyeglass purchase, you can get a second set at HALF price!! Who doesn’t want to be looking great and fashionable while seeing their best also! Stop in and check out our fantastic selection of frames!
(some minor exclusions apply)
Crazy as it seems, back to school is just around the corner! Learning is the foundation for our kid’s future and did you know that 80% of what we learn is done through vision? Often children do not even know a problem exists as they are accustomed to seeing as they do and have nothing else to compare it with. Be sure your kids are seeing and learning at their full potential this year by booking an eye exam today!
Due to the increasing number of new cases in our western provinces, we have implemented more stringent measures to continue to protect our patients and staff. For the next while, we will be asking everyone to arrive wearing a mask and will be taking temperature upon check-in. Of course, all the other safety protocols will be continued as well. We are doing our part to keep the numbers low in the community you live in, so we respectfully ask for your cooperation and understanding. Together, let’s keep everyone healthy so we can get back to normal as quickly as possible!
