Due to the increasing number of new cases in our western provinces, we have implemented more stringent measures to continue to protect our patients and staff. We are VERY excited to be able to re-open our optometry clinics for more routine eye exams on Monday, May 4th (in addition to the emergency care we have been providing all throughout the lockdown)! Of course, things will be done carefully and with great respect to the on-going situation to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. The following steps will be implemented to enable a safe environment for everyone!
-When you arrive you will be asked health-screening questions – PLEASE stay home if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to people who have been diagnosed with, or are presumed to have, COVID19.
-You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon arrival
-You will be asked to respect social distancing with other customers, however due to the nature of our work, our team will come into closer contact that the 2 meters specified, thus we ask patients and our customers, as well as our doctors, opticians, and optometric assistants to wear a mask while in the office (our receptionist staff will not be required to wear a mask, however will maintain distancing and utilize barriers)
-We are still asking seniors who are more vulnerable (have relevant underlying health conditions or live in a communal setting to avoid coming in for non-essential services); however when necessary, we will accommodate with early morning or end of day appointments which are less populated times – PLEASE ADVISE US if this applies to you!
-We will be following strict sanitization guidelines, so please cooperate with the process by not handling frames unless advised to do so, and minimize surface touching
-We are also complying with the reduced number of people in the office at one time, so please avoid bringing others with you. It is advised to have those accompanying you remain in their vehicle until you are ready for them!

As a partially non-essential service and partially medical/essential need service, our ability to take care of your eye care needs has been evolving on a daily basis.
To-date, we are able to continue to provide urgent eyewear needs, including contact lenses that can be ordered and shipped direct to you (NO shipping & handling fees will be charged to you). Requests for this can be left at either of our clinic numbers (306-463-8266 in Kindersley or 403-664-3300 in Oyen), or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or via the “contact us” link on this website. You only need to indicate your name and supply amount required, and as long as you are an active patient at our clinic, we can do all the rest!
If urgent eyewear is needed, we will also be able to supply those to you using proper social distancing, single person encounters (do NOT bring children, friends, spouses with you), disinfecting protocols, and minimum in-clinic time. This is being limited to broken or lost eyewear, higher prescriptions, and pick-up of orders placed prior to the Covid19 crisis using non-contact delivery methods.
Emergency doctor access eye-care will be delivered in our Oyen location, by appointment only as scheduled through our triaging hot-line at 403-664-0060. We can also provide some tele-optometry care, which can be done over the phone however, thus far, is not an eligible service under provincial health care coverage. This is a very good option in the event that ocular medical assistance is required but travel and physical contact is not recommended under any circumstances. The tele-optometry format can also be accessed through the hot-line at 403-664-0060.

This is to update all our patients and customers on the latest impacts of COVID19 on the services we are able to provide to you. As of now, the government and provincial optometric associations, have asked us to close our offices to non-essential services (routine eye exams) and non-critical care (less urgent follow-up visits). Absolutely Eyes, (our Kindersley location), will be closed to all doctor services until further notice. Our office doors will be locked, however urgent optometric care can be obtained via our emergency hotline at 403-664-0060. Emergencies WILL be accepted at Oyen Optometry (our Oyen location) and, again, can be accessed through the same emergency hotline at 403-664-0060. Emergencies include infection, injury, worrisome visual symptoms, and broken eyewear needed immediately to function. Our Oyen location will have access to doctor care and will be able to handle all these immediate concerns. We want to urge you to use us for such things, versus being visually impaired or seeking attention at the emergency departments of the hospitals. We stress that we need to keep people out of the hospitals at this critical time, to not only keep physicians available for COVID19 concerns, but to also reduce your own potential exposure as well!
If you require contact lenses, we can still have these shipped to you and all shipping & handling fees will be waived. If you recently ordered eyewear, we will be arranging pickups over the next few weeks using the protocols set out for us as being appropriate in this COVID19 situation.
We can only hope that, at the end of the day, this will present, to some extent, a bit of a positive social experiment, whereby we all learn to take a step back from the chaos of ordinary daily life, be able to appreciate each other’s company more, develop a whole new level of empathy and compassion for our global humanity, and a deeper understanding as to how we are truly all in this together on this ‘blue marble’ we live on!
