Halloween and Eye Health Awareness Month

Home \ News & Events \ Halloween and Eye Health Awareness Month

First be sure to pick up a reflector stick-on patch from Oyen Optometry Clinic (they are free) to help your little ghost or goblin be visible while trick or treating at night.

Also give some thought about how to keep your eyes healthy this month.

Easy lifestyle changes that do your eyes a world of good include eating more fruits and vegetables, keeping the sun out of your eyes with hats or sunglasses and moderate aerobic exercise at least 3-4 times per week.

A little more difficult of a lifestyle change to make, but extremely important - quit smoking! Smoking is not only bad for your lungs, skin, teeth (and the list goes on), it is also bad for your eyes being a strong contributor to cataracts and macular degeneration. Today would be a great day to quit smoking as well!
